Extended Wifi

Looking to extend my current in home wifi by adding a Omni directional antenna ... I am currently useing an asus rt-ac87u router.. And would like to use Ethernet wire to power the antenna I plan to mount to my roof... Would a parts list and to know if any advanced programming is needed

As to programming, it's just an antenna, not an access point? Why does an antenna need power?

I guess I may have not have been clear... most of the antenna's im finding are n connector style... and I will be needing to have at least 50 ft of wiring between router and antenna... I have seen some Bullet adapters that also need poe adapters... I have a 30 acre lake in my back yard and would like to be able cruise around on my boat and still be on my home wifi with an ipad or iphone... I have seen b g n Omni antennas I think would do the trick

Haven't seen off the shelf WiFi gear cover that distance.

Figure 100 meters line of sight, you're way over that. Google 5 mile WiFi to see what's involved.
