General discussion

extend catv signal with wireless device

Nov 12, 2010 3:11AM PST

I have digital cable from Time Warner Cable in Charlotte , NC. I have a scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR from them. I have a guest room which does not have cable in it & Time Warner says they cannot give me cable connection in that room.

I want to be able to send the signal to the guest room. I went to Best Buy and purchased a Terk wavemaster wireless 2.4GHZ wireless sender/receiver because Best Buy salesperson (who did not know waht he was talking about) told me it would do what I wanted. All it did was send the exact signal/program that was on the screen of the primary TV directly connected to the 8300HD via an HDMI cable.

Is there a product that will send the signal and let me see other channels which I get on the 8300HD on the guest TV.

Sorry if this is very technical. I don't know the correct jargon.

Ok, why can't they give you cable connection to that room?

Here in Los Angeles, it's one HD box per TV. Here I can watch other channels with other TV, however, it's not with a HD box though.
