Apr 3, 2007 4:55PM PDT

My hard drive is showing 76 GB used but I ran dir quickview and it showed only 14.57 Gb used. I have a few small programs on the computer besides the os . What can cause this difference?

vista home premium os
intel 2.4 dual core
500 GB hd
2 Gb ram
8800 nvidia graphics card

one more thing the hard drive seems to be running all the time

thanks for the help
Randy

Vista has many bytes for system restore and more. I don't see anything amiss here. I can imagine users from XP and prior might think it's busted.

Unless you get 2GB RAM and until Vista's indexing finishes scanning files it will look quite busy. It's Vista and we'll see posts like yours from now on.
