Exporting Email to Archive When Your Mailbox is Full

Feb 18, 2006 1:31AM PST

I have email folders at Yahoo, and elsewhere for other email addresses, which constantly warn me to delete some mail because my mailbox is almost full.

I delete messages and empty my trash, then, go to my "saved" folders and laboriously copy one saved email message at a time and paste it in a Word file for saving to my hard drive. After about 10 transfers I'm tired and abandon this archaic practice, so, my mailbox is full, again, in a few days!

Isn't there a utility with an export function so I can just move a whole folder, or all of them, at once, to my hard drive for storage?

Is this what Outlook Express is for? I have never used this program because of its rumored vulnerability to viruses and other idiosyncracies. Is this true?

Related frustration is the accumulation of 10000+ messages in my bulk mail folder at Yahoo, which I can only delete at 200 messages at a time. I just gave up.

Any suggestions? Thanks. -yawni

Click on Check mail. Look closely to the right of the Bulk folder and use it's empty feature.

Yahoo Bulk mail will be deleted automatically

after certain time.. its on the yahoo option setting.

Beside BULK and TRASH folder, DID NOT count with your Yahoo SPACE.

The problem with your bulk folder is that you may have some legitimate email in there.

So, the best thing you can do is .. Check all THEN UNCHECK the one you want... and delete. Do this until all unwanted email get deleted. AFTER THAT, check the rest of the email (email that you want) and move to your inbox.

Other way to do, create a block list .. (many of the bulk/spam/junk have common subject/from line)

its all in the options page

You may want to create a webbased email address that also can be check using your pop email client, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora etc. you can also use a utility such as Mailwasher pro, POPFile etc. (which you can view your email without downloading it, and you can create a filter and delete the email that you don't want, BEFORE it reach your computer).
