explorer missing in windows task menu

Mar 15, 2004 7:26AM PST

I've been using dsl for about 1 month now. I recently noticed that "explorer" no longer shows up in the task manager window when I press ctr-alt-del. All programs are running fine. I was having a problem with spyware/pup-ups and browser home page changes. That seems to be solved now since I started using truwatch. I also run Computer Assc. EZ.Antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall. Every thing seems to be clean except for a few spyware cookies I can't seem to remove. any thoughts?

If it's an anomaly without any effect?

yes. I am not having any problem with any program. Everything is working great. It's just that I've never known explorer to not appear in the task menu when you press ctr-alt-delete. All hardware seems to be functioning fine as well.

i've finally figured it out! I realized (thanks to the pop-ups I kept receiving)that I had look2me. I downloaded kill2me and ran it. It removed look2me, fixed many spyware problems and fixed IE. Now explorer once again shows up in the task menu.

thanks
