It seems something has been corrupt in Windows. I am unable to restore system back to any point. When I boot up, the system is extremely slow and I am only able to run commands through task manager/file/new task. When I shut down system, I get the explorer.exe needs to end task dialog box. System won't boot after hibernation either, I have to delete restoration data, but still have the issue with only running programs through task manager. If I clear cmos, then the system will boot up fine, other than having to change time back. It seems to be software related, because I have switched to another hard drive and the system will boot fine. Unfortunately, that hard drive is waay overdue for a reformat as it runs very slowly.
Anybody have any ideas? It's an HP laptop with Win XP, SP3, all updates.
Thanks in advance!
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
