Question

explorer.exe application error when shutting down

Apr 29, 2016 2:44AM PDT

Hey guys, I have just set up my new pc, which I mainly use for music stuff. There are no problems so far when running it, but I've encountered this error window http://imgur.com/Exw94NF when shutting the pc down. Is this critical and can I do anything to fix it? I'd really appreciate your help, thank you!

If it reboots succesfully after shutdown, it's not critical.
Does it happen if you shut down after booting into Safe Mode also?

Okay. It does reboot successfully after that. It's only when shutting down that this error occurs. I'll try booting into safe mode and shutting down later. I'll get back to you. Thank you so far!

The app that doesn't like shutdown

Is unlikely to be Explorer.exe but some add on. Since it is shutting down it's not that critical but something to dig into. I use tools like Kees noted along with AUTORUNS, HIJACKTHIS then off to google what I don't know what an item is.

Not a method I use or would use.

I like to dig into what's running at the time of shutdown or startup then work it with MSCONFIG or such tools. I know folk that just want it fixed.

The article you noted is not one I will use.
