Tnx CC, went to def's and will have a try at changeing the registry and doing a clean boot, and see if that works.

tnx RP ran stinger, no problems found, now, web pages dont have all the bars on the top of the pages, i have to right click to go back, i run AVG and Zonealarm all the time, so when a virus tries to get in i get a warning.

While you think you have the "virus" covered, what are you doing about?
Feb 5, 2004 4:06AM PST

Pests and Parasites? The list is far too long for me to type in with names like "Cool Web", "Gator" and more that the tools you mentioned do not detect since they are not viral.

Next, a damaged browser can be repaired, but I still don't see a clear view of:

1. Error messages.
2. Pest control. (Adaware, Spybot, CWSHREDDER and such.)
3. If you simply turned off the view of the toolbars.
4. If Mozilla works ok.

What you write tells a lot. So far, the pest and malware looks like has a free range on your machine.

and this post...

"running ad aware 6, spybot search and destroy, no mozilla, TFAK, pc-bugdocter. no error messages until i turn off."

I'd want to know what these error messages are as well as you trying a clean-boot troubleshooting such as http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q192926

Can you tell me how to get my web pages back to normal, with the toolbars and evreything, will sort that one first.
I have reinstalled 98se over the top to try and repair explorer but that has not worked,

Installing over the top creates a lot of issues.

It's best I forget everything at this point and you start a new thread with all the details.

It's clear that the OS is now corrupt.
