Question

Experience connecting HP docking station to Dell XPS???

Oct 19, 2013 2:36AM PDT

I have a DELL XPS One 2710 AIO (Windows 8.1) and a HP docking station (HSTNN-I11X).
The Dell has a HDMI-in port. When I try to connect to the port with a HDMI cable to the docking station the laptop on the docking station is not recognized.
As there is no HDMI port on the docking station I have to use a HDMI to DVI adaptor similar to this.

Should this HDMI to DVI adaptor allow me to do what I want.

On the Dell I can toggle between the PC and the HDMI input port similar to what you would do on a TV.

Has anyone had success getting these two pieces of hardware working with each other?

And found no support beyond its use with HP Probooks. I suggest you get a refund on this station.

These simply aren't meant to work in the way you want it and/or outside of the intended use. Further, it maybe looking for HP branding in order to get full access and/or goto the next level. Since, it appears there is no full cradling into the dock, there maybe a physical sw. or process activated to get features to work. On top of that you've installed an adapter which could muddle the situation. In other words, you got things going against you other than trying this or that and hope for the best.

In typical advise, I wouldn't offer this as a solution. Of course, if we were on a deserted island, I'll try anything. -----Willy Happy
