excessive memory usage

The file "System and Compressed Memory" use excessive RAM and my computer constantly freezes. Do I need this file and how do I disable it.

Should use as much ram as the machine has. The ideas of free memory are from the days of DOS. Let's read more about your PC, if you are running torrents or something else.

...try stopping some of the unnecessary programs from running in the background. Be sure to eliminate things like two antivirus programs running at the same time, etc. If you've got two, uninstall one. Start by opening "msconfig" using the link below and UNCHECK any startup programs that don't need to be running.

After that, you might even want to use the Black Viper link below to eliminate unnecessary "Services" at startup. Find the "Safe" column, or even the "Tweaked" column and change those services to "manual" or "Disabled" and see if it helps.

In addition, bad drivers could be causing the issue. Check the device manufacturer's website and download/install any Windows 10 updated drivers.
