Question

Excellent Wireless Network Connection--NO Internet Access

We have a D-Link DI-524 wireless router that has had no problems until today. Our laptops (with Windows XP), iPods, and iPhones all show that there is an excellent wireless network connection (as usual), but none of the computers or devices will connect to the Internet. I tried resetting, rebooting, and unplugging the modem and router. The router and modem seem to be fine. When we disconnect the router and plug the laptop directly into modem, we have Internet connection (i.e., it's not the IP). I didn't change anything to make this problem occur, so I'm confused. Thank you for your help!

Answer
Usually ...

this is a encryption or password problem, so the client can't login to the router and get an IP-address.
- Check the router settings.
- What's the clients IP-address as shown by ipconfig?

I'm on my phone now, but I'll check the ipconfig ...

...in the morning. I was goofing around with everything tonight, and the router/modem/Internet worked fine for about 15 minutes. I think the router did something similar this evening because my son's iPod had been updated (games, email, etc.). Otherwise, no Internet.

It's not working at all this morning . . .

The IP address seems correct--I just released and renewed it. What could be wrong with the password?

Why would this be happening?

I am trying to figure out the router again this morning, and all of a sudden at 10:42 a.m., the Internet connection via the router seemed to work for a minute. I could tell because my son's iPod updated his email. Why would it work for a moment and then not work all of a sudden? The direct, wired Internet connection has not stopped working.
