Latest Microsoft spreadsheet spits out some unexpected numbers

IT Week Labs has confirmed a flaw in Excel 2003's random number generator that can produce negative numbers instead of values between zero and one. The Rand function was rewritten for Excel 2003.

Firms using Excel for financial simulations could find their results worthless if the problem occurs. Microsoft has announced it is working on a fix.
