Ewido 3.5- Update Review

by James Gillian / June 4, 2006 9:47 AM PDT

The review for Ewido 3.5 from the Editors is from version 3.0

Ewido is a great anti-spyware/trojan fighter, and I think it needs to some light shed on it, maybe test it out again, and see how it does compared to the other Anti-spyware apps.

I feel safe with Ewido (spyware-wise, I have antivirus too), and besides a once-every-6months scan w/Ad-Aware, I have been safe. Also, Ewido 3.5 can detect Firefox spyware (tracking cookies, etc.) TO give you an example, I did a scan w/Spy Sweeper and one w/Ewido. Ewido found like 50+ tracking cookies. Spy Sweepeer: none! And it even has the logs to prove it.

Ewido is great, it is getting a face lift, and I have the ebta, and since the beta doesn't fuly work as good as 3.5 yet, I still use 3.5, however, miss the new look of Ewido.

Spysweeper & Ewido
by steve11375 / June 5, 2006 7:17 AM PDT

Hi Al_Silver,

I use both products and a couple years back bought Spysweeper (I didn't have or know about Ewido then) because Spysweeper was the only game in town which found & removed something that none of the other (SPY/MAL-ware) removers found on my computer.

I run Ewido everyday after I update it and it finds a couple cookies, I run spysweeper everynight & it finds a couple cookies every night also. I don't consider cookies a big spy threat, I guess some do.

All that said, I'm having some issues with Spysweeper that dogteams1 mentioned because I'm beta testing V5.0. The problem you mentioned with Spysweeper & Spywareblaster IS a problem in V4.5 and the problem is NOT corrected in the V5.0 beta. The slowdown you mentioned WAS a problem in Spysweeper 4.5, but that was corrected in an upgrade BUILD to version 4.5, does your wife's PC have the latest upgrade build of spysweeper?

Hope that helps,

I didn't really check it untill she told me it keeps saying its crupted.I updated it then it came back to life. She forgets to update her programs so i also updated spyware-Blaster and the update would not go all the way like only so far.
The checked its protection and alot of Red files in its, defs turned off.So i shut all shelds down on spysweeper then Spy-blaster was ok.
