Fear of commitment?

LOL...

One thing you're going to have to accept --particularly now in the smartphone arena-- is that there's always going to be something better in a couple of months. That's what makes the contract thing such a drag, as it locks you in to something older in a rapidly evolving sector.

Some carrier will get smart and offer trade-ups, even though they'll end up making money on it. I'm envisioning something akin to car leasing for phones.

friction between your phone and the latest version of Android? It's bad enough having to wait on the carriers (if they ever get around to it) but having to wait on the carriers and HTC could be a real drag.

I can't really comment yet...

My Incredible came with Android 2.1 and now 2.2 (Froyo) is being rolled-out. Reports are that HTC will upgrade 'most' phones released in 2010 --including the Incredible-- later this year. But that doesn't necessarily mean Verizon will release it the same day/week/month.

So, that's what remains to be seen. There are different manufacturers for Android phones, and different carriers, of course. Between them all, it could make for delays in implementation. Guess one would have to have the Nexus One to avoid that possibility. Ask me in the fall!
