bfg 6600 gt is overclocked for u so its faster. however, i think there is a big price gap between that and the evga one. i would say the evga is better as it is more affordable and that little oc doesnt make much of adifference.

and...

you can OC the eVGA just as much
XFX is also an EXCELLENT brand to consider
along with MSI and Chaintech
Leadtek is also great
(I have personal experience with XFX, Chaintech and Leadtek)

same dilemma here
May 29, 2005 12:35PM PDT

i have going over the same debate on 6600gt PCI-E for past 2 weeks
reading various forums and googling.

the more i read ...more i am confused.

I have read good things about BFG.
But i am not going to buy it because i think i dont
want OC.

Here are the three choices i am juggling with now.

MSI (very good reviews. lot of people own it..but the MSI forum is reporting lot of problems)

Leadktek - (so far good. but not lot of people own one.)

Gigabyte (fanless version is preferred in forums)

(NT) (NT) any of those brands are good

check prices
May 30, 2005 10:05PM PDT

My suggestions would be check current prices, If you need an AGP card, I would seriously consider the Leadtek 6800nu, I haven't checked in the last couple of days, However NewEgg had them for $188, They come with a very nice heatsink and IMO the vanilla 6800 is a noticeably better card than the 6600gt for just a few bucks more. ( Many of the manufacturers have dropped the prices on 6800's below $200 now.) The 6800 has slower memory speeds than the 6600gt, However it makes up for it with 12 pixel pipes instead of the 8 on a 6600gt and 256 bit memory instead of 128. ( Plus the 6800 agp versions have the ability to unlock 4 exta pixel pipes and an extra vertex shader giving them a total of 16 pipes and 6 shaders, Which makes a huge difference in gaming)
