Congratutions with your apparent CAD talent and your new job.
But CAD surely isn't a Windows 7 thing. You did choose quite the wrong forum for your enquiry, so I'm locking it here. And, sorry, if you look through the list of subjects in our software forums in http://forums.cnet.com/software-forums/?tag=contentMain;contentBody you'll find nothing that really matches. We're much a consumer oriented forum.

Ok, so im new to this particular forum, however I noticed when I was looking for information/ other people POV on CAD labs/programs, etc. it was nation wide. A bunch of threads, that could be less the headache if simplified. Hope this works for future inquiries.
I am fairly new to CAD, as a matter of fact, i only started using it 3 weeks ago. Im more of a pencil/ paper artist, however, in the short amount of time I have been checking it out, I have blown people away. A frined of mine who works at BAE said that what I learned in no time, people hes had working for him for 6+ years cant do. Naturally, I figured he was full of it, and continued to mess with it for my own entertainment. 2 weeks later, I have been offered a position as an apprentice to an engineer. Im not trying to brag at all, its truly hard to believe, but I wanted readers to see exactly how much I know about these programs. Now seeing as though I have had a once in a life time offer, (for myself at least) I want to splurge on some goodies, everything from a new notebook(laptop) to best reviewed software. I know a bit about what to look for as far as processors, Memory etc., but im no expert, so any response helps.
Right now im running Google SketchUp 8, and as elementary and simple as it is, it is what i used to get apprentice offer. About 2 nights ago I had to go and download a rendering program, and start a whole mess of stuff to play with. This one is Kerkythea, and V-ray for Sketchup. I messed with Autocad 2012, but could not get into it. Easy to use just as sketchup, but more irratating aspects. Currently I am downloading SolidWorks2012, and from what ive read, its one of the best 3d CAD's. If you could, Id like to see what all of you other people are using, and your reviews on them. Thanks for your time
