Feb 11, 2008 8:28AM PST

Everytime I try to save a file either in Word, Powerpoint, Excel, et al I can not pecause I get an error stating that the program has stopped working properly and has to shut down. I also can not save any file I download to a specific location I designate. It just disappears!
Running:
Vista 32 Bit home premium (all up to date)
MS Office Enterprise 2007
DELL XPS 420 with Intel 6750 Core 2 Duo

"MS Office Enterprise 2007" means you paid dearly for the direct support line. Take advantage of that many thousand buck outlay now.

Is this a MS-Office problem?

You say you can't save a download either. That's suspect.

Can you save a file from Notepad or Wordpad?
Does File>Save As work in Internet Explorer?
Can you copy/paste a file in Windows Explorer?

Then it's definitely ...

not an MS Office problem, but a Windows XP problem. Time to switch to the Windows XP forum and start a new thread there, titled (for example) Can't save files.

Then in the post describe what happens when you try it:
- in Word
- in IE for a download
- in Notepad or Wordpad
- in Explorer when using copy/paste on a file
and finally
- in a command window, using the copy command.

If you're not experienced with the command window, just type the following lines (end all line with enter):
c:
cd \
dir autoexec.bat (to see if it exists)
copy autoexec.bat test1.txt (only if autoexec.bat exists)
dir boot.ini
copy boot.ini test2.txt (only if boot.ini exists)

The things we're especialy interested in are the error messages.

MS Office Enterprise 2007 is supposed to be compatible with Vista Home Premium. I contacted DELL and their support was great! It took some time with trouble sshooting. My hard drive image of Vista was damaged/corrupted and we had to do a restore to the original factory image. Been spending the day reinstalling and recovering from back up various files and applications.

I want to say Thank You to those who responed to this thread!
