Evernote Down

Jul 20, 2010 12:07AM PDT

Evernote servers have been down for 1hour+.
I finally thought to check via Twitter for status.

Biggest negative at this point is that there has been no status posted by Evernote as to cause and expected duration of problem.

Evernote definitely down.
Jul 20, 2010 12:14AM PDT

I have noticed (as of 10:10 ET), that the service has been down for at least 3 hours at this point. It has not synced at all since I got up this morning.

I gather that people in Europe and Asia noticed it before I woke up.

One person at twitter referenced the ma.gnolia situation and linked to an article about it, fearing that Evernote may have suffered some kind of catastrophic failure: http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/01/magnolia-suffer/

I understand that they may be on California time, but for those of us who are paid, premium users and have come to expect 100% uptime, this is a bit of a shock.

Working off-line for the moment

I fortunately use EN primarily from the EN Win 3.5 client, so, it is not a "disaster", but, how EN handles this outage will definitely influence whether I will upgrade to the premium service.

Where would they post it? It appears all their servers are down.

Service just back up, but...

still no word from Evernote about cause of problem.

Total outage appears to be for 6-7 hours.

From @Evernote
Jul 20, 2010 4:23AM PDT

"We identified a networking issue that kept some users from accessing servers for a few hours. No data was lost. Everything is up and running"

This was tweeted about an hour ago (approx 13:00 EDST).

Wow. The full, convoluted story, is now available.
