Question

Event viewer on win xp

Apr 21, 2014 4:15PM PDT

I was using a duplicate file finder . It suddenly deleted more files than I had checked. I talked to support. First thing they said was does your computer have errors on it. This was new to me since I had virus protection Malware and a registry cleaner installed I thought I was full protected. I went to control panel -performance and maintenance-administrative tools-double clicked event viewer and there was errors galore. Question How can I fix these errors and why do they occur.

1. Registry cleaners don't give protection. Generally, they are quite useless.
2. Hiw to fix errors (if it are errors) depends on the error. Since you didn't tell anything about them, this is all that can be said.
3. An error in application program (like that duplicate file deleter) is very unlikely to be related to anything shown in event viewer. So it's very unlikely that answer from support makes any sense. Maybe they were trying to sell you a cleaning program?

Hope you had a backup of those deleted files that you didn't want to delete?

I was able to re install the deleted items. Here are some of the errors.
Msi Installer event 1023 and 1005
Native Wrapper 5000
Application Hang 1002
Nview_info 1
Bonjour Service 100
I am not familiar what effect these errors have on my computer.
They did try to sell me a product to fix these errors and transfer files to my new computer i am getting for$199.
I was thinking when I get my new computer that these files won't be transferred anyway since it has a different OS. Win 7. Just wondering If win 7 will develop these errors.

I shouldn't care about errors on your old PC if you get a new one.
Anyway, don't install this duplicate file finder on it. It seems unreliable.
