Event Viewer Errors

Nov 20, 2003 5:43AM PST

For the last few days since reinstalling XP (clean install) I have been receiving Many errors that indicate that I need to update my Bios by Contacting the Vendor. I have never updated any Bios and am feeling a little uneasy. Should I feel this way? any suggestions? I have tried to check on line for my Bios, BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 10/04/2002, I am a little confused. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Richard

You're not ready to do this.

The exact MAKE, MODEL and REVISION of your motherboad is required before you begin your search. Many people have NAMES and MODEL NUMBERS on their machines like HP Pavilion 7934 or such and that means you get to check with HP.

The line of text you supplied is just one clue, but not a very big one.

Tell more about the make and model.

In closing, if it isn't crashing, you may have to just live with it.

BIOS Update has to be done with the utmost care!
Nov 20, 2003 5:52AM PST

Richard,

What is the Make/Model of your PC?
If it's a HP/DELL it's best you go to their website directly and D/L the BIOS update.

Some BIOS Softpaqs can be updated from Windows but most have to be extracted to a Floppy Disk and updated in DOS.

For Award BIOS you'll also have to D/L AFlash.exe.

Make sure you read the instructions and follow them to the letter.

During the update you are given the opportunity to backup your current BIOS make sure you do that too.

And don't power off before the BIOS update is completed and the message tells you to restart.

If you can find it also D/L the Motherboard Manuals and read the section on BIOS update and BIOS recovery.

HTH.
