Here all the laptops have 1 year warranty. DO NOT OPEN IT UP to fix it. Just call it in and let them fix it.

I suppose for 6 mos. you used the laptop and thus recharged it. So, how you can call the salespeople or "associate" is an idiot seems rather harsh. It worked for 6 mos. right, why is there a problem now. The shelf life of being a display unit and all included plus your 6 mos. use may gotten into the battery life down side or the charger has gotten wonky. Many times the charging port can be broken in some way also. As already offered to you, at 6 mos. I assume you have warranty, allow them to deal with it. I also assume you filled-out any warranty application during initial 1st days or so.

You can visit the laptop makers support website and check the FAQs on your issue and apply common fixes. However, don't crack open the laptop in any way as to NOT void the warranty. Understand also, batteries don't last forever and depending on prior use and yours, 12-18mos, sometimes batteries do falter for whatever reason.

it would be best to contact the manufacturer. It could be anything from a broken port to a bad battery or bad cable to who knows what. when a laptop is on display, people dont care, especially at walmart. You are lucky it still had keys on the keyboard Happy display laptops takes a lot of punishment because of that bar that they put across it to prevent thief. Customers will still try to look at ports and such. IMO, display laptops should be refurbished before selling to the public. but that is another story... call the manufacturer and dont say anything about it being a display model.

could be the battery

or the charging circuit in the computer. Either way, it's a warranty issue.

How about the usual?
Mar 4, 2015 2:29AM PST

Remove the power, unplug the battery, hold down the power button for 60 seconds, release. DO NOT APPLY POWER YET.

Get out the canned air and give the battery, ac jacks and connectors a blast.

Slip in the battery, apply AC, WAIT an hour to give the battery time to take a charge and then re-test.

Batteries CAN FAIL. Cheapest parts to replace first is the charger and battery.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but. I was told the battery only charges while the computer is turned on. Just being plugged into the wall socket dosen't charge the battery.
Right or wrong???
