European Plasma TV -- US HDTV signal w/DVI

Jan 22, 2005 2:09PM PST

Ok, I have a weird problem that ComCast is no help in solving. I've got a Plasma TV I bought it Europe. It does not have Component Inputs, but it does have a DVI input, and I know that it does 1280x720 resolution, because I've used an Xbox w/VGA adapter and a computer to display that resolution.

Anyway, when I hook up the ComCast HDTV DVR (the Motorola one), I get a 720p HDTV picture perfectly -- for about 5 seconds. Then the screen goes blank. But the menu on the Plasma still says it's getting a 1280x720 signal Sad

I'm wondering what the problem could be. Anyone have any ideas or seen anything like this happen?

In the US we use the NTSC system in Europe they use the PAL system.
Computer resultions are completly different from the two above systems and are standard here and abroad.
So the computer will work while the TV will not unless the TV is also NTSC compatable. John

Do you have your HDTV connected on DVI? What refresh rate does your European plasma support? 50Hz (25pps) or 60Hz (30pps)?...that makes a big difference! I am talking about the display resolution. Well?
