Question

Ethernet

Nov 7, 2015 1:49PM PST

I have a very efficient wireless home network, however my garage computer continually goes offline when it "goes asleep", and I lose the wireless connection I have thru my little USB adapter.

What I would like to do is hard wire that PC into my modem which is just literally on the other side of the garage wall. I want to do this clean (as opposed to just drilling holes thru my wall and bringing the wire thru. What I thought I could do is put an Ethernet wall jack on both the garage and inside walls, and connect them with an ethernet cable in the wall. But I am not finding any such wallplates, which tells me that there must be a better idea.

Any thoughts??? Thanks!!!

I got mine from Frys, although it has been awhile. Have you check Home Depot? I know they have coax. I didn't pay any attention if they have ethernet or not.
