Continue to run both of those cleanup programs, repeatedly, in both "normal" Windows and Safe Mode, till all malware is gone, INCLUDING the WinDAT.exe file. (It's a malware file that needs to be removed..) If they can't remove the problem file, try using the Windows XP REcovery Console to remove the file manually from the command prompt..
If you still can't access the internet, please try using the free WinsockXPFix tool from the link below to repair the connection software:

Hope this helps.

so i had some nasty spyware and malware the other day, i used superantispyware and malware bytes antimalware to get rid of them. i got rid of everything except for a process called Windat.exe, which i just end up killing right after startup until i can find out how to fix it. but now that the computer is working good again for some reason i can't use the internet. i have 2 different ethernet ports to use (my girlfriends brother built this computer about 5 years ago)one is on a Dlink card (D-link DFE-538TX 10/100 Adapter), and the other is on the motherboard (i think ??) and listed as NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter. i have reinstalled the drivers for both with no progress. i can connect to either one but no data is exchanged on the connection.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
