Question

Ethernet Router to HDMI Port for TV

Oct 5, 2018 2:07AM PDT

I have a TCL Roku TV (built-in WiFi) and a Comcast (no idea who the manufacturer is) modem/wireless router. I'm having issues with the WiFi connection dropping out with the router, so I'd like to try a wired connection.

Issue: The router has only Ethernet (output) ports, and the TV has only HDMI (input) ports. I have "cut the cord" and have no cable box.

Question: Is there an adapter or converter that would allow me to connect an Ethernet router port to an HDMI port on the TV?

No Ethernet Port

I triple checked the TV, and confirmed with the manufacturer. There is no ethernet port on this model.

No, such a device doesn't exist, unless you use your PC or anything like it (laptop, Android box, Raspberry PI) on which you can run a browser or app to view what you want (like Netflix or online TV) on a connected monitor.

Then use your TV as a monitor, either via a HDMI cable or wirelessly casted.

Thank you. I ordered an Android Box (which has an ethernet input and HDMI output). Hopefully this will work with the existing/built-in Roku functionality.

It won't.

In your case you want some wifi hotspot, WAP or powerline wifi near your TV.

Of if you like Roku, buy their stick or box.

I'm in the same situation. Did the Android box work or were you able to find a workaround solution? Any suggestions is appreciated.
