Ethernet? Please help me! I don't understand anything!

Jan 26, 2007 5:43PM PST

Hi!

I'm going away to uni in a fortnight and have just received a letter from the residential college that i will be living at. They have told me that to use my laptop computer i require an ethernet card, ethernet software and an ethernet cable. I have no idea what any of this means!

I currently own a Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook and run windows xp. Does my computer already have an ethernet card in it? Please help me. If it does, what software or cables will i need to buy?

Please reply. Any suggestions will be appreciation. I only have 2 weeks to sort all this out and so really need your help!

Oh also, i need to include my PC serial number. Where do i find that?

Thanks so much,
Stephanie
