"looks like the modem is getting powered and the download light is on but router not getting to internet."
Try another router. Or at least reset the router to factory settings and configure it again like you did the first time.
i have a gateway nx560xl running xp media center with 100 gig hd, 1 gig ram, cd/dvd burner... my issue is with the ethernet port. i use my local power utility's contractor to access the internet. i have a wild blue satellite dish with wb modem. i run a ethernet cable from wb modem to a linksys wrt54gs wireless g broadband router and then either connect wirelessly or via ethernet cable. as of yesterday, i am unable to connect either way. have tried 3 different ethernet cables. have run the cables directly from wb modem to my ethernet port. in control panel, system, hardware, device manager, network adapters, I show a 1394 net adapter, an INTEL Pro/1000 PL network connection, and an INTEL Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection. All are enabled and all say are working properly. Is my ethernet port zapped or where else might my problem lie? when i plug ethernet cable from the wb modem to the linksys router (and both are powered up), all the lights one the modem and the router are on EXCEPT the internet light on the router. looks like the modem is getting powered and the download light is on but router not getting to internet. thanks for the assistance!
