other prerequisite drivers? Dealing with a proprietary PC in this manner can be a headache and that's why they are best set up with the manufacturer's disk set. Some drivers won't load until something in between the that device and the rest of the motherboard is loaded first. It's like trying to install a sink where there's no plumbing to attach to. You can try to revisit the Dell site for a more comprehensive set of drivers or contact them to see if you can purchase a set of proper disks.
Hi,
I loaded Windows XP, Sp3 on the newly partitioned hard drive of my Dell Optiplex GX280 recently.
Three drivers (Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, & Video Controller) were missing, so I used Dell's service tag and website to download & install them from a flash drive.
Audio & Video drivers work fine, but not Ethernet Controller.
The Device Manager says it's missing, even though it was "installed" (and saved on my C: drive). I've un/reinstalled this internet driver numerous time with same result.
The Ethernet Controller (VENDOR: 14E4 DEVICE: 1677) is a Broadcom Nextreme Gigabit.
The driver is:
Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller, 57XX Gigabit Integrated Controller, v.v7.5.2, A00
Broadcom Advanced Control Suite Windows Diagnostics for the Broadcom 57XX Integrated Gigabit controller.
Version v7.5.2, A00
