Hockey,

We'll need a little hint here...Which operating system? Does this program cause the "open program" to close? (If that's the case, there is no need for a separate program....Pressing the "Alt-F4" keys at the same time will close the current active program.) For what programs did you use the "Esc" key closing method?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Hockey, if you don't like the fairly large span of fingers to bridge the Alt and the F4 keys, you could alternately use the Alt+Spacebar then separately press the C key.

And another thing you could do is look into your mouse controls, some of the more elaborate mice and drivers for them allow you to tailor the extra mouse buttons you might have.

If you have those extra mouse buttons, and a driver that permits the customization, change one of the buttons to "Close" the window.
