Errors in drives in Windows: wrong sizes, locations

Feb 26, 2004 10:36AM PST

I have had some problems in installing Windows XP Home on a new drive. Through some crashes, I have had to install windows on a 2nd internal drive (D) to be able to try to fix problems. I now have a seemingly functioning Windows system with applications, but there are some serious problems:
1. Supposedly, my C drive with Windows, many applications, data has taken only 9GB, but my 120GB D drive reports only 31 GB capacity and all free. (There was over 110 GB of data stored there before).

I have done chkdsk on C and although it took a long time (particularly on free space), there was no improvement. D reports to be "unformatted".

In addition, my dllcache folder in System32 is in blue, as are service pack uninstalls. Although I had downloaded service packs previously, I had to download again but this didn't change the situation.

I would REALLY appreciate some help on this.
