"error saving file"

Sep 28, 2004 6:44AM PDT

Every twenty minutes or so I've been gettig a Yankee Clipper message saying: "Error saving file: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\History.YC\textitems.YCF; when I hit OK, the message repeats twelve times with different initials before the term "textitems", so that I have to hit OK twelve times to get rid of the message. I fooled around trying to get YC on my startup menu, moving items around in Explorer like I knew what I was doing and got messed up so badly that I uninstalled YC and then reinstalled it. Then I did what I thought was the right way of getting it on my start menu and Quick Launch bar. Wonder what I should do now? grandpaw

Yankee Clipper uninstall problem
Sep 28, 2004 10:42PM PDT

glb, Yankee Clipper is a clipboard utility that saves stuff on the clipboard until I want to delete it. What I've done now is to have System Restore take me back to yesterday morning, before I got into the mess. The reason I started fooling around with YC is because I had downloaded the wrong version and wanted to get the version I was used to. So I uninstalled the wrong version and downloaded the correct one. But then I messed around trying to get it on my Quick Launch and Startup and fouled something up. So, after the System Restore I had the wrong version back. I tried to uninstall through Add/Remove (which uninstalled fine yesterday), but got an error message from Wise Uninstall that it could not open INSTALL.LOG file.

I thought that now I should download a free uninstaller and see if that will do the job. What do you think? I thought I'd go to CNET reviews to get a recommended uninstaller.

Is this free uninstaller program made for Yankee Clipper? If not, I wonder if you are asking for more problems. Whenever I've had error messages and a program not uninstalling, I have reinstalled it, then gone to the control panel, used add/remove programs and uninstalled it. The other option I've used is system restore. I still think you need to reinstall to replace the missing file then uninstall the program.

Unlike many who post here, I don't use a lot of 3rd party utilities to perform tasks I can do through Windows. With all of the malware out there, I stopped downloading like I use to after I got a password stealing trojan.

Making it a separate thread

Since the problem I'm now having differs from what I originally posted as the problem, I'm making it a separate thread. grandpaw
