Error on page

Using windows Xp and IE 6.0. I seem to keep getting the small icon "error on page" in lower left hand corner, but only when trying to use Hotmail or Yahoo mail accounts. It does stop me from outgoing attachments etc. Any help? Thanks Pam

Pam,

Are you using XP SP1 or SP2?

Just a thought or two....

Do you have a pop up blocker running? Disable it if that's the case.

Have you checked the Internet Explorer settings to make sure that they are at default? ActiveX may need to be enabled. While in Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" in the upper left, choose "Internet Options". When the Internet Options window opens, click on the "Security" tab, then click on the "Internet" icon (the world globe), then click on the "Custom Level" button. When that loads, scroll to the "ActiveX and Plug ins" section and "Enable" the boxes next to "Run ActiveX controls and plug ins" and "Download Signed ActiveX controls" and "Script ActiveX Controls marked safe for scripting". If you've made changes, click on ok, then choose "Yes" when it asks: "Are you sure?". These settings are less safe than when set to "Prompt" or "Disable" but it should allow your page to load without error. ActiveX controls are one of the methods by which spyware can be installed on your computer from "bad" websites.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I followed your advice in your reply, but I am also still getting the small yellow error on page icon hen I am at websites and trying to, for example, click to zoom on a picture. I am also using IE on Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I've had a similar problem after I upgraded from 98SE to XP SP2. Looked at all the normal stuff; pop-up blockers, firewall, virus protection, etc. Finally, found a suggestion to uncheck the "enable third party browser extentions" and restart. This has fixed my problem. You can find this option in IE from Tools->Internet Options->Advanced. Hope this helps.
