error occurred during install of assembly policy 8.0.microso

Sep 3, 2010 4:19AM PDT

I am trying to install quicktime and during the installation I keep getting error message ;

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'policy .8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT,
version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32-policy",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",
processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007371B"

I have tried completely removing all of the apple components and reinstalling and I still get the same error message. The installation is interrupted and it begins to roll back. I am also getting an error message that windows installer stops working and is shut down. Please help I don't know what to do next. Thanks

Wrote about installing the VC++ runtime. I think you are looking for a quick fix. Sadly I think something has happened to this system like a registry cleaner.

(NT) That's the last resort option.

That's a last resort effort.

I only commented that there is more to try but I find many owners feeling overwhelmed at what it takes to fix such errors. For now I'll wait for you to digest Kees and my input.
