Error Number: 0x800CCC90

Jun 17, 2010 1:43AM PDT

We have today started to receive the following error message on both our PCs (running Windows XP and both Greenbee and Waitrose servers) when trying to receive mail through Outlook Express v6.0.

The server responded with an error. Account: 'mail.greenbee.net', Server: 'mail.greenbee.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

I've had this message before and I seem to recall I had to delete or change a value somewhere but I can't remember where, or where I got the remedy from. It was an error in AVG Free and was supposedly going to be fixed. Is it a coincidence that at the same time as this problem appeared we have started to receive invitations to upgrade to the paid for version of AVG?

Solution: Disabling email scanner?
Jan 1, 2011 7:53PM PST

After installing AVG 9, most times I sync Windows Live Mail I get Error 0x800CCC90.
On the following website,
http://www.resource-utilities.com/email_common_errors.aspx#0x800CCC90/91
I found the suggestion to turn off the email scanner.

This seems to have solved the problem of getting and sending emails, but now, of course, my emails aren't being checked for viruses.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Make sure that your settings are correct both in AVG and in Windows Live Mail.
If you are still having issues provide us with all details about settings.

If possible, provide us with screenshots of settings in both Windows Live Mail and in AVG.

Thank you
