The last time I ran into that I duplicated the XP install CD and the copy didn't have that error. For now try running IEFIX (google that please) and see if this helper will get you out of the woods. Be sure to have your duplicated CD handy.

I currently have Windows XP home edition on my computer. I have to upgrade to XP Pro edition for my office. I bought the upgrade version that includes Service Pack 2. About 3/4 way through the installation, it starts giving me file names and says that it can't copy the files. It gives me the option of browsing for the file, or skipping it. When I skip it, it says that Windows might not work properly. I decided to try that anyways, and windows finished installing. Everything seems to be working fine, except now, Internet Explorer is missing. I tried to install IE 7 from Microsoft.com, but when the installation finishes and it says I have to reboot, IE7 is not installed. This makes me wonder what other problems the computer is going to have. Does anyone know how to fix those error messages?
