Phattferd,
I think you already understand the basics of the problem.
Just some suggestions...
Get more RAM because Windows XP needs more than 128 to function well and run games..For games, I'd get at least 512 MB.
Try reducing the screen resolution to 800 X 600 if you've got it higher than that.
The "Appcomp.txt" file is normally created when there is a conflict between programs, drivers, and such. My best suggestion would be to install the most current drivers for the video card first, then move on to the other drivers such as audio, modem, ethernet, BIOS, etc.
Sometimes, you can find the program executable name for the game, RIGHT click on it, choose "Properties" from the menu. When the next window pops up, click on the "Compatibility" tab and place a CHECK mark in the "Run this program in compatibility mode for", then select Windows 2000 or 98, or whatever works, from the drop down menu.
Hope this helps.

I found an old version of Tiger Woods 2000 and wanted to instal it on my PC. I have windows XP, 128 SDRAM, 1.20 GHZ Celeron...It's an Emachines. I played it on an older computer before so I know my video/graphics cards are good enough.
This is the error message:
C:\DOCUME~1\USCTRO~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERDB.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt
does anyone know what this can mean? I am wondering if it doesn't work because XP came out after the game was made, so it may not work on XP?
Please help, otherwise I have to get another golf game. Thanks.
