Error message "Firefox 3 stopped working"

Hi,

In 5 minutes, I got about 6 times the error message "Firefox stopped working. Check for online solution or close the program". Anybody got that error message? That's the first time it happened since I upgraded to Firefox 3.

Windows Vista Home Premium with Firefox 3.

conflict, reinstall

There is conflict between the Plug-ins and Firefox. Try to reinstall the newest version of Firefox.

Firefox 3 has been giving lots of people problems ...

(especially with Vista). The normal cure is to revert to FF 2.x and keep checking of FF 3 for fixes.

Vista does offer a way for you to keep tabs on problem apps. To create the report of the applications, open your Windows command prompt (or the Run dialog), and type - perfmon /rel. Press Enter. This opens the Reliability Monitor app. Up in the top right corner choose "Select All" from the date drop down. Now expand the Application Failures group under "System Stability Report" and you see a detailed list of all software applications that have closed as a result of some error or failure.

now if your crash message includes something about Data Execution Prevention (very common with FF 3) see what is suggested here -

My guess

In reply to: Error message "Firefox 3 stopped working"

My guess, given that a lot of effort went into Firefox 3 to make it work better with Vista and OS X, is that you have some old extensions that are causing problems.

Be sure to check for updates for any and all installed extensions. Especially those you've had around for a time. And doubly so if you use something like Nightly Tester Tools to override the normal compatibility checking for extensions.

Also be sure that if you have Flash and/or QuickTime installed, that you're using the latest versions.
