error message DLL 32

Apr 5, 2007 11:22PM PDT

When I start up my computer I get the following error message: "The system DLLuser32.dll was relocated in memory. The aplication will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLC1|Windows|system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address reserved for WindowsystemDLLS. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted a a new DLL" Help! It doesn't sound good to me - and what do I do? Thx

hhctrl.ocx error

Apply the hotfix from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/

This is caused by the Windows security update you did just before rebooting. This hotfix repairs the update.

Not your fault at all. Nothing you could have done to prevent it.

C:\windows\system\rundll32.exe application not found
May 24, 2011 11:50AM PDT

I have a windows based pc using XP. I am not able to load much of anything but google chrome. Any program I try to use it pulls up a box that says Choose the program you want to use to open this file. Even just for internet explorer. Then it acts like it's downloading the file you choose, except google chrome. I can access the internet but can't do much of anything else. When I go to control panel to try to do a system restore I get the error <span id="INSERTION_MARKER"> <span id="INSERTION_MARKER"> c:\windows\system\rundll32.exe application not found. I get that when I try to use almost anything in control panel. I have avast free edition and the chest is full. It won't let me open the program anymore to try to delete stuff that's in the chest. There were several corrupt files when it did the last scan, that it wasn't able to isolate or clean.

So, please try the steps below:

If you can download the tools listed below on the problem computer, great, but you may need to use a separate, clean computer, download the tools, copy them to a flash drive or CD, then transfer them to the infected computer.
_______________

Go to the link below and scroll down to line 12 (left column). RIGHT click on "EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP", choose "Save Target As " or "Save Link As", to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it or right click it and choose "merge" and answer yes to the import prompt.

Once that's done, then restart the computer into "Safe Mode with Networking" and use the instructions below:

After downloading or transferring it to the problem machine, run the
following tool to help allow the removal programs below to run.
(courtesy of Grinler at BleepingComputer.com)There are 3 different
versions. If one of them won't run then try to run the other one. Be
patient.... as a black window should open, then close after finding all
the background programs.Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as AdminYou only need to get one of them to run, not all of them.

IMMEDIATELY after running the "Rkill" tool above, run/install the Malwarebytes and
SuperAntispyware installer and update files from the links below which
you've also copied to a CD or flash drive, and transfered to the problem
machine. Do NOT restart the computer after running Rkill.Once
downloaded and before transferring Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware to
the problem machine, rename the program installer "mbam-setup.exe" file
to something else like "Gogetum.exe", then copy the installer file and
the update file to a CD or flash drive.. Transfer the file to the
problem machine, then install the "Gogetum.exe" file, then run the
update to get the program current.. After that, run a full system scan
and delete anything it finds.

And after that, if everything's fine by you can't connect to the internet,
then follow the procedures below to check your network "proxy" settings
again.Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools-Internet

Please describe your problem clearer.. What operating system are you using? EXACTLY what is the error you're seeing? If it's the same error as indicated in this thread, have you tried the downloadable fix suggested by Kees above?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Well Then, A Couple Of Thoughts..
Apr 2, 2009 11:46AM PDT

First, disable all the add-ons in Internet Explorer and see if it fixes the problem.. Open the Control Panel, double click on the "Internet Options" icon, then click on the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Reset" button at the bottom of the page.. This will reset Internet Explorer back to it's original factory settings.

If that doesn't help, then follow the steps below to download, install and run the free antispyware tools listed:

On a friend or family member's computer, download the Malwarebytes installer and update files from the links below, copy them to a CD or flash drive, then transfer the files to the problem machine and use them. If you can't start the computer into "normal" windows, try installing, updating, and running the scans AFTER the computer is started into Safe Mode.. I use the sites below to download the installer file and the manual updater:

Once downloaded and before transferring them to the problem machine, rename the program installer "mbam-setup.exe" file to something else like "Gogetum.exe", then copy the installer file and the update file to a CD or flash drive.. Next, download the SuperAntispyware program and the manual updater from the links below. After running the Malwarebytes tool above, if you still can't download and install it directly from the problem machine, download it on a friend or family member's computer as well. After installing and updating SuperAntispyware, run another full system scan and delete everything it finds as well. Try This Then..
Apr 6, 2009 12:19AM PDT

First, make sure you don't have multiple firewalls blocking your access..

Next, make sure that the network adapter, either wireless or ethernet is enabled in Device Manager.. (Sorry, you haven't told us the type of internet access you're using.)

And finally, download and run the WinsockXPFix tool from the link below which should fix any broken internet connection software:

Just A Couple Of Thoughts...
Apr 6, 2009 2:04PM PDT

If you've already tried the WinsockXPFix tool mentioned earlier, then check in the Control Panel-Network Connections-then RIGHT click on the "Local Area Connection" icon (if you're using a wired connection) or the "Wireless Network Connection" icon (if you're using a wireless connection), then choose "Repair"..

If that doesn't help, try downloading and running the LSPFix tool from the link below:

Hope this helps.

No Mention Of Whether You Tried The Steps Above
Apr 7, 2009 2:09PM PDT

No mention of the operating system you have installed or whether you've tried the steps mentioned in all the posts above.. That information would sure help..

And since the problem appears to occur during "normal" Windows operation, it's possible you're still infected. Just in case, try the tools below which you didn't mention trying. Follow the procedures below:

On a friend or family member's computer, download the Malwarebytes installer and update files from the links below, copy them to a CD or flash drive, then transfer the files to the problem machine and use them. More Things To Work On..
Apr 9, 2009 12:53AM PDT

By the way, using the Combofix program incorrectly can cause the problem you're seeing. Combofix should only be used by users with the help of a qualified helper.. If you read the Combofix download page, it indicates such..

Just to make sure that Norton is no longer on the computer, please start by checking the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and uninstall it.. Next, download the Norton Removal tool from the link below and run it.. (If you're not able to reach the internet on your computer, use a friend or family member's compute to download the file, then copy it to a CD or flash drive and transfer it to your machine.)

http://service1.symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?OpenDocument&seg=hm&lg=en&

We've also seen a few such issues when Kaspersky is installed. If you haven't tried uninstalling it, please do.

In addition, if you haven't done so, please follow the instructions posted in the link below:

"I try everything" doesn't tell us whether you've run the WinsockXPFix tool, or the LSPFix tool, disabled your firewall, tried resetting your router, or enabled your LAN network in the Control Panel.

here my new info
Apr 8, 2009 3:53PM PDT

I am using Windows service pack 2. I have an ethernet connection. It is not wireless. I have followed all the directions that you were giving the other guy until now. I don't believe I have a virus any more. My browser is just not coming up right. I go to CMD and I ping websites and I have no loss when the websites show up. I can go to safe mode and get right on the internet. When I'm in normal mode, I see that I'm connected. A lot of people have had this problem but they solved it by getting the excess virus program out of their computer. The problem is I never really had any virus progam to get out of my computer. I had the demo version of kaspersky and I uninstalled that. But when I did have the virus, I did notice that I had Norton Security scanned installed, and I installed it and it kept coming back on. Once I deleted all the viruses and spyware, the Norton security scan stopped showing up. I don't like Norton, so I know I did not install that at all. I did go into the registry to see if any Norton crumbs were left and they are. I don't play with the registry unless I have someone telling me what to do, but I did notice there are some programs left. I know there has to be something left behind that is blocking my browser from showing up. I am still stomped about this. I have tried a lot of things. The last virus program I used was Combo fix. And it got rid of something and that was it. I still have this major problem. Thanks for your time.
