Error Message: Component Transfer Error

Dec 25, 2003 12:40PM PST

I am trying to intall the Sims Deluxe on my Pentium 3, 500Mhz system running Windows 98SE and with an 80GB Hard Drive (61.4GB Free) and 385MB RAM. I had the program installed previously but I had to uninstall it as I purchased some add on's that required me to uninstall and reinstall the base game. When I try to reinstall it, I get an error message stating "Component Transfer Error" and the installation stops. I cannot find out what this error means or what it might relate to. Recently both my CDROM drive and my CDRW drive bit the dust and I bought a low price replacement CDRW drive (HI-VAL 52X24X52). This is the device I am using to install the game. Can anyone help me with the meaning of this error message? Is my new drive the problem? Thanks in advance for any help I might get on this!

To which link do you refer? There is no link in your response to my post. Please tell me, what details did I miss in my post? I tell you my OS and details of my system. I tell you when the problem occurs. I tell you the EXACT error message I am receiving and mention a recent change to my system and the model of the new drive I installed. Please, tell me, what else do you want? I've partictipated in enough forums to know what details to include. The only reason I am listed as "New" here is that I had to sign up again when CNET took over from ZDNET. If you can provide help, please do. Otherwise, your comments are not needed.
