Error message at shutdown

by ILearner / July 3, 2010 9:27 AM PDT

I'm occasionally having an error message appear when I shut down XP (SP3). It reads "The instruction referenced memory at 0X0012e5e8 ref 0Xfffffff. The memory could not be read." Below this message are choices to shut down program or ignore.
Can anyone tell me what this refers to please?

What is the Title of the error?
by RCF_Rose / July 3, 2010 1:01 PM PDT

What does it say in the solid strip at the top of the error box? This will give a clue as to what program or device is the problem. It may be a program that was partially deleted or a device that had been installed but isn't plugged in.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
