error in desk top explorer MWYUV.DLL

Hi

I am getting error when I load my ME windows desk top

says MWYUV.DLL error in Explorer

When I close this msg

Computer locks up and bottom status line
disappears.

Anybody has any suggestions as to waht to do.

I found this site that discusses a hijacking of a system and how they resolved it. You should also get the program HIJACKTHIS in order to follow the instructions given in the last link.....the first links are where to get the HIJACKTHIS program and other programs to eliminate spyware.

John,

What type of background do you have displayed on the desktop? Have you tried changing it to the default "none" and does the message still occur?

The EXACT error message would sure help...Does that file name happen to be "Msyuv.dll" instead of the slightly different spelling that you gave? If that's the case, try installing the newest DirectX available at Microsoft. It should correct the problem:

DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime
