Before I went looking I would have said just try it again ... First though:
1) Make sure you are not running any other anti-virus programs. Spyware programs may get along but anti-virus programs don't play well together -they clash when they try to work at the same time.
2) given a choice I always download the entire program I want to install and then run the installation rather than trying a web install

I've been using Avast for years with out problem nor virus infection. DO NOT forget to also have firewall running. I use Zone Alarm.

Having said all this and recognizing the fact that as much as I like CNET for answers we don't necessarily have all the answers here. I found someone on Yahoo Answers who had the same 301 error. Check this out = http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091016083023AALlhOY

hello guys. I have been facing this issue
a lot of times in my office's network. what
i have come to know is that it is because of
some virus in my hard drive.
i formatted the hard drive and reinstall
windows then it worked.
