Trying to run AVG 9.0 and I get this error code. I have deleted the program and downloaded again but I get the same code. Any ideas?

Thanks, John

Hi,

0xE001004A - Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Please check your hard drive for errors (checkdisk, ...) and download fresh AVG installation file again.

Thank you

How do I check my hard drive for errors? I have the same problem with this darn code coming up. I removed AVG and tried to reload and it goes through all the steps but then has this error at the end. I have been unable to reload AVG Free again which seems wrong.

not sure how to proceed
Dec 6, 2011 8:32AM PST

I have checked my hard drive but it is not making much sense to me... there are lots of error but for todays scan I show:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( gupdate ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started.

as for the error codes from yesterday:
Hanging application install_reader10_en_air_gtbp_chra_aih[1].exe, version 3.2.1.3, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

What would you suggest I do next to get this cleared up and to upload my AVG again. Thank you so much.
