So: Anybody have any ideas on this??? Or am I posting in the wrong forum???
I'm re-assembling my old HP computer. Last weekend I put the motherboard, which still had the RAM chips and CPU in place, in the case and turned it on just to make sure everything would still run.
It made some beeps on startup: One long beep followed by two short beeps, a one-second pause, then a repeat of those beeps, then about a twenty-second pause and two more short beeps.
That is:
Beeeeeeeeeeep, beep-beep; beeeeeeeeeeeep, beep-beep; (long pause) beep-beep.
My PC maintenance books are so vague as to be of no use ("It could be the memory, processor, or motherboard; try replacing one or all three and see if that helps.")
Can anybody out there be more specific?
Thanks!
Mark
