Maybe I was not clear. Creating new threads clutter the board and scatter the information about.
I may have missed it in the multiple threads you have now, but did you uninstall and reinstall this software, then and if it failed call HP to see if they have an update or patch for the issue?
In closing, I am seeing far too much SPYWARE cause such pain. If I didn't ask, I will now. WHAT ANTI_SPYWARE TOOLS ARE YOU USING? And finally, post a HIJACKTHIS LOG. Use Google.com to find out how to do this if you are unsure.
My bet is the log may show an issue. If you want to move quickly, you would call HP after the reinstall and clear up your HIJACKTHIS log before your next post. I want to share that not all software works for all people or machines. You may have to just toss it and find another program. I don't think it's worth this much effort since there are many choices out there plus the do-it-yourself methods.

Hi Bob,
Sorry not to have repeated the details. Here they are.
HP SIMPLE BACKUP ? Version 4.2 OEM Key name SBWIN32.EXE
Windows 98SE
Hard drive: at least 3Gb free/ 192Mb RAM
Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106IS;SP1
HP CD-Writer Model 9110i
Adaptec software (DirectCD;Easy CD Creator;UDF Reader)
1. With the original CD?s that came with the CD Writer I could successfully make Rocovery Diskettes and Disaster Recovery Set[DRS]
2. Using HP Simple Backup I successfully made a Full System Backup (about a year ago. Shame on me!).
3. Now attempting to make Recovery Diskettes, I got a message to insert my ?Windows 98SE CD-ROM?, followed by ?Add/Remove Program Properties? window saying that various files not being found ? such as ?command.com? ?drvspace.bin? ?winboot.sys? ?ebd.cab?
N.B. I found that ?command.com? etc were not on the Windows 98SE CD.
4. Since HP felt my files may be corrupted I did a re-installation(in SAFE mode) using the latest, updated, version (hsb42enn.exe) from the HP Web site at:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareDownloadIndex.jhtml?reg=#cc=#softitem=co105en#prodId=hpcdwriter18527#lc=en#sw_lang=en#pagetype=software
and successfully made Recovery Diskettes and Disaster Recovery Set[DRS]
5. I am now experiencing similar problems.
6. Unzipped Windows\Command\EBD files
7. Unzipped Windows Base5.cab files
8. HP Simple Backup asked to insert ?Windows 98SE CD-ROM?. Without inserting the Windows 98SE CD-ROM, I clicked OK. The ?Add/Remove Program Properties? window stated that ?command.com? was not found. In the ?Copy files from? section, scrolling gave me a choice of:
C:\Windows\Command\EDB
C:\Windows\Temp\Q312339
9. Choosing the first (EDB) I Made and Tested Recovery Diskettes(2) ? OK
10. Attempting to make a Full System Backup (whether I select to make or not make Recovery Diskettes) I get the following message in the ?HP Simple Backup? window:
?Error while preparing bootable media. Please ensure there is enough free disc space.?
?Error 410 C:\Program files\HP Simple Backup\TMP1.dir\amsint.mpd?
Nov 4,2004
Have followed your advice to download file: amsint.mpd and placed it in HP Simple Backup folder.
Still getting the error messages as above [..free disk space and Error 410]
Can you be of further help? Much appreciated if you can.
Thanking you in advance
