Error 1919

Feb 2, 2004 2:04PM PST

I have a Sony Vaio Pentium 4, PCV RX760, with Windows XP Home. I have been trying to load Microsoft Office for teachers and students. The message I keep getting is: Error 1919, Error Configuring ODBC data source: MS Access, ODBC error6: Component not found in registry. Verify the MS Access Database exists and that you can access it. If I ignore the message, I can load and run the Outlook and Word programs. The Powerpoint will not load and this is what I need, along with the Excel Program.

Microsoft has not helped me at this point. I located the message at the Access 2003 site and tried to resolve the problem, however while modifying my registry keys I found that I do not have or cannot find the C;|Winnt|Inf file. So, I could not proceeed.

I have found MS Access in the Configuration system under Drivers:Native, but this has not helped me in loading the disk.

I have not done a system restore because I am still trying to back up my files.

I would appreciate any help. I am very frustrated with this.

Thank you. I will give it a try. I also would like to know why so many errors plague this system. The people at MS have not answered that for me.
