Error 1606 Cannot locate network location %APPDATA%

Jan 31, 2011 5:36PM PST

Get this message when trying to install Corel video software. I've tried the Microsoft solution "fix it" and manually checked the registry strings. Everything is good per the help page, but still get the error on install. I'm not real PC savy and are afraid to change things in the registry.
Vista 64 bit
Corel VideoStudio Pro X3

What happens if you do the following simple experiment: in the Start>Run-box type %APPDATA% and press OK. It should open Windows Explorer in your Application Data folder. What does it do with you.

http://arstechnica.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=296016 tells more about finding the start>run box.
