Error!!

Feb 2, 2004 4:00PM PST

I have been recieving these messages every time I open Internet Explorer, or any folder. With Internet Explorer it states "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvevience." Then it just say that you may loose the info you were working on. It says the same things with Windows Explorer when I open up folders. And my only option is to close. I can ignore the messages and everything works as it is while I'm typing this, but the message stays on the screen.

Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of these problems?? I've scanned for viruses, and there are none that it can find, if that is even a possibility.

Thanks,

Adam

Re:Error!! (when using Explorer)

Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution.

Without any comments about it worked before, never or any notes about the machine make/model or if you have ejected all and any Pests and Parasites (includes more than a virus) and more, not much can be offered except this:

Press Start, Help and Support. Enter in the following two words. EVENT VIEWER Use the EVENT VIEWER to collect more information about the error to share with others as well as do your own research with http://www.eventid.net and http://www.google.com

Sorry about now including the info. I really thought that my type of computer would have no baring on the problem. I do use Windows XP. My computer is just a custome computer I suppose. It's an Intel 1.9ghz, 256RAM... I don't know what else to include to have importance.
I did try to go to the event viewer, and all that came up were 15 categories, none of them having any significance to me in this case. I'm sorry I do now know what info you need, I just though that this may be an issue that someone would know how to fix. Whether I need to reinstall Explorer, or if it's bad enough, even reinstall windows.

So if you could direct me further in how to go about with this that would be great, but I'm still unsure what to do.

The tip is supplied with every post.

It's a guide to help people think about this simple idea. Are you telling enough for others to get traction on your issue.

Looking at your two posts, there isn't enough there. I could suggest use of SFC or more parasite scans, but that's premature.

While you dismiss the Event Viewer and its contents, such is GOLD for troubleshooting.

Let me close by showing what I do to have the Event Viewer show only what failed. If the machine can crash/error on demand, I clear all 3 categories in the Event Viewer. I crash the machine and then look to see the results in the Event Viewer. Armed with EventIDs and more I head to www.eventid.net or Google depending on the information.

At this point, only you have the clues.

Care to share?

Another example where the make/model of things makes it clear.
Feb 3, 2004 10:50AM PST

For example, at the office almost all the P4X266 boards have expired due to the bad capacitor issue. This tidbit of information is your secret which if you had this board or a few others would have me showing the web site about this issue.

But this is just one of many directions this can go.

What you share really makes the difference.

I would love to share more in this to help my error be fixed. I really just don't know what I need to share. I have checked the Event Viewer, and it's not that I don't think it can help. It is that I don't know what to click on to gain info. I have never heard of event viewer before, and don't know how to use it to my advantage.
Right now I'm using the internet, and have a folder open that alway recieved the error message. They haven't came up yet though. It's usually immediately popped up after opening these. We'll see though. Just maybe the error has fixed itself, or something of sorts.

I will keep trying to let you know what you need to know to help with this error if they do persist. I'm not positive if they will though, although I'm very skeptical that they will.

Thanks,

Adam
