Error 0x80070057 when downloading windows 8 to Asus n61jq

Dec 4, 2014 1:21PM PST

Okay, this is my first post so hold on tight...

I have a completely wiped Asus n61jq. I boot straight from CD ROM with the windows 8, type in key code, accept terms, click custom settings, then I am at the partitioned hard drive screen ECT. When I try to format, it gives me error code 0x80070057. When I click next it brings me to windows downloading screen but stays on 0 percent downloaded until it takes me to the error screen with the same exact error code.

Can someone help me please I'm stressing so hard!!

Am I missing sata drivers or what? HELP!!!

Any info needed on the computer can be found here: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/N61Jq/specifications/

I'm going with true.

Expected to happen. Installing Windows is not that simple. You have all the prior install issues from the web so I can't hazard what step you missed. Your post didn't detail how you prepared the laptop for the install and we know Microsoft's installer doesn't do it for us.

There can be other issues such as a failed HDD. Your post, besides omitting the prep detail left out why you are not using the supplied OS.

download program from hard drive vendor

whatever hard drive you have in it, the vendor of that hard drive will have software you can download, such as Acronis or something similar, which you can use to test the hard drive and also be sure it's actually cleaned and then setup for loading windows. Most likely are Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi.
