Question

Error 0x0000007b

Dec 24, 2013 9:18PM PST

This occurred during the reboot after I installed an update to Shadowprotect backup software. I tried chkdsk /r, spinrite level 2, and Kaspersky rescue disk. It gives the error even when trying to go into safe mode.

Any other suggestions or has the hard drive decided to go south for the winter? Thanks.

If you had supplied a make/model/detail about a machine with a SATA drive I know of a common BIOS or driver issue with that drive. I've been able to produce 0x7b on demand by changing the bios in regards to IDE or legacy so I'll stop here.

Please heed the words in red. Also, just because you didn't change it does not mean it can't on its own.
